Case Study

The Client

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout Great Britain and Ireland

The Brief

A new Samaritans survey has discovered that men in rural areas are less likely than men in urban areas to reach out for support or talk to someone if they are struggling with their mental health.

The findings come as Samaritans launches a new phase of its ‘Real People, Real Stories’ campaign, supported by the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, which aims to reach men in rural communities who are struggling to cope to prevent them reaching crisis point.

Our brief was to bring this campaign to life for radio.

The Solution

We presented a range of script ideas from which the final script was selected. The initial phase of the radio activity is in the Western Highlands of Scotland, South Wales, the North of England and Northern Ireland, so we produced different versions using voice artists from those regions to deliver the script in their local dialect, with the addition of a Welsh language version for South Wales.

The result is direct but empathetic, with subtle sound design to add rural context.

“Samaritans is very grateful for Trisonic’s help on the production of the radio ad for their latest campaign ‘Real People, Real Stories’ which encourages men in rural communities to seek help when they’re struggling to cope. It’s been an absolute joy working with Matt and I recommend him highly for his exceptional professionalism, creativity and efficiency. He is solution driven and adds value at all times.”
