The Client

On behalf of the German federal government, the German National Tourist Board has been working internationally to promote Germany as a travel destination for more than 60 years. It communicates the diverse appeal of the country to a worldwide market promoting ‘Destination Germany’.

The Brief

Bread and other baked goods have been recognised as part of Germany’s intangible cultural heritage and a draw for visitors. The brief was to promote ‘German Bread Culture’ an Alexa skill designed to whet the appetite of the target audience with a range of German bread and baking recipes that can be baked at home and of course tasted in Germany.

The Solution

Although we knew that audio was an integral part of target audience’s media repertoire, we needed a format that would allow us to communicate the key message and also provide a Call To Action mechanism listeners could use to get straight to the featured recipes, and of course tips for planning their holiday to Germany.

Digital Audio was selected, and we targeted listeners via Smart Speakers with the call to action “ask Alexa to ‘Launch German Bread Culture’, triggering an Alexa skill to allow listeners to hear more.
