The Client

Byway is a travel company specialising in sustainable, flight-free holidays. It’s the first company using holiday planning technology which allows holidaymakers to tailor make their 100% flight-free trips. Byway is all about travelling more sustainably and the quality of the travel experience instead of speed.

The Brief

Our role was to help Byway promote flight-free holidays for the late summer and raise awareness of  the Byway concept as a sustainable and unique alternative to traditional flight-based travel.

The Solution


We knew from audience insights the demographics, social profile and the audience interests and we needed an audio medium that would allow us to target the criteria… Podcasts matched perfectly as it gave us the full range of targeting opportunities that mirrored the Byway audience profile and, importantly, the right fit in terms of show content and environments for their interests


Our job was to write and produce an engaging script which took full advantage of the personal emotional connection listeners have with their favourite podcasts.  Flight-based holidays are usually one-centre breaks; Byway’s holidays take full advantage of surface travel to allow the holidaymaker to see more, experience more, at a leisurely pace.  So in the ad we take the listener on a typical Byway journey, taking in heat of the Tuscan sun, an invigorating swim in a Slovenian lake, and a gentle journey home by sleeper train.  To tempt listeners to book and aid attribution, we used a unique promo code for a £50 discount.
